With my focus on examining societal views of women – and, more specifically, mothers – in activism, political change, I am a recognized leader, having presented numerous keynote speeches, as well as moderating and participating on panels to various national groups and organizations. I am a sought after speaker on how women embrace their own unique personal experiences to fight long-held societal stereotypes and how women have been able to used social media tools and online communities for social change. I have consulted with numerous political organizations. I am also a nationally recognized opinion writer and thought leader, with writing at USA Today, The Hill, CNN.com, U.S. News & World Report, among others. I have appeared on a wide variety of national and international media outlets to share political commentary, including has also been featured on CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, and more.
My work has received recognition from a variety of groups for its perspective on what was the burgeoning and is now ever-growing community of political women, including the Advocacy Innovation award from Campaigns & Elections Magazine, as well as the Forty Over 40 Disruptor Award.
As a photographer and world traveler, I am passionate about creating and sharing everyday images of street photography to promote understanding of other countries and cultures. Since travel has been extremely limited for most people in the last year and a half, I hope to share my photography as home art as a way of keeping a love of travel alive and to bring the beauty of the world into our homes and offices.
I am the founder of one of the award-winning political blog that focused on the motherhood political movement, PunditMom. I was also the founder/publisher of The Broad Side, an online magazine of women’s political commentary.
I hold a B.A. in Political Science and have a law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law. I am an active member of the bars of Maryland and the District of Columbia, as well as being a member of the bar of the Supreme Court of the United States.
